Nestled near the heart of Gastonia, N.C, there’s a community quietly becoming the talk of the town.
Ruby Dixon Crossing isn’t trying to be everything at once. It doesn’t have to. What it offers is simpler: thoughtfully designed homes, a sense of ease, and a place that already feels lived in, even if you’re just arriving.

“First-time home buyers love this community because of the price point and lending programs available.”
Sarah Bewley - Community Sales Manager
Built by Brookline Homes, the neighborhood includes 80 townhomes, with about half still available. Each one is designed to support real life, with features that feel as practical as they are comfortable:
- 3 bedrooms
- 2.5 bathrooms
- Spacious garage
- Two stories with 9-foot ceilings throughout
- Large owner’s suites
- Stainless steel appliances
- Around 1,600 square feet
It’s the kind of space that adapts to you, whether you’re starting out or looking for a more manageable, low-maintenance space.
For Sarah Bewley, that transformation is something she gets to witness every day. As Brookline’s Community Sales Manager at Ruby Dixon Crossing, she’s helped more than 250 families find their place since becoming a licensed realtor in 2017.
What Sarah sees is a neighborhood beginning to take shape, neighbors becoming familiar, and a community coming into its own.
Plenty of Room to Dream
It starts with the way the place feels. “The 9-foot ceilings on each floor and the 8-foot front door really elevate the home,” Sarah says. “Buyers love it.”
That openness carries through the entire home, shaping how each room feels and functions. Owner’s suites have the space for a king bed and then some, without everything feeling pushed to the edges. Front-loading garages leave room out back for a patio you’ll actually spend time on.
It’s not just the amount of space, but how it’s used. Each room feels considered, with enough room to settle in and start living comfortably right away.
Easy Living, Easy Price
Part of what draws people here is what they don’t have to think about. Townhome living means less maintenance, fewer responsibilities, and more time spent on what matters. HOA dues stay low, and yard work isn’t something homeowners have to plan around.
Affordability is top of mind for many buyers. Brookline understands this and works closely with a trusted team of preferred lenders to make home ownership more accessible, especially for first-time buyers navigating the competitive greater Charlotte market.
“First-time home buyers love this community because of the price point and lending programs available,” Sarah notes. “The homes are priced amazingly, and the area qualifies for outstanding grant programs.”
It’s a combination that makes something that can feel out of reach start to feel possible.
Close to What Matters
Among Charlotte suburbs, Gastonia stands out as a city with character in its own right. Its walkable downtown has that classic Americana feel where locals know each other, and there are compelling local and familiar options for shopping and dining. There’s even the Classic Arcade & Pinball Museum, a fantastic time for the family. It’s hard to get bored here.
Gastonia’s prime location makes everyday life easier. Located just west of Charlotte, it offers a more relaxed pace while keeping the city within reach. Uptown is a manageable drive along I-85, and for some homeowners, proximity to Charlotte Douglas Airport was a deciding factor.
“I have homeowners who chose Ruby Dixon Crossing because of how close it is to the airport where they work,” Sarah says.
With easy access and many amenities here to choose from, Gastonia is a great place to call home in the Charlotte metro.
A Neighborhood with a Story
Regional history is one of many ways homeowners in Ruby Dixon Crossing feel connected. Gastonia has long been known for its deep roots in textiles and manufacturing. This Brookline neighborhood takes its name from the rich history of the early 20th-century mills of North Carolina. In 1919, Sister mills Ruby and Dixon were built along the Carolina & Northwestern Railway tracks in Gastonia.
“Each of the community's plans — Dixon, Ella May, and Ruth — are tribute to important families and individuals that built, financed and worked the mills during that era,” Sarah notes.
Your Own Neck of the Woods
If you need a breath of fresh air, Gastonia has that in spades. It’s close to the Catawba River and there are many outdoor attractions in Gastonia and across the region bound to inspire adventures:
- Explore biology and archeology The Schiele Museum, a local planetarium and research center
- Catch the rapids at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, a world-renown watersports destination with kayaking, watersports, ziplining, and even ice skating.
- Take the family for a picnic at Martha Rivers Park, an imaginative place with walking paths and even a castle playground
- Commune with nature at the Daniel Stowe Conservancy, and explore >350 acres of woods meadows along Lake Wylie
- Hike up to the top of Crowders Mountain State Park, which boasts two peaks, beautiful trails and cliffs, and a scenic view of the Piedmont
As a community, Ruby Dixon Crossing is a comfortable entryway to a charming region. It is located in an area with several established communities and greeneries, and Brookline is planning to enhance this ambiance further with a dog park in the community.
You can expect the neighborhood to have a mature, lived-in feel. It’ll feel like home even when you go outside.
“I would absolutely love to live at Ruby Dixon Crossing,” Sarah said. “It’s a peaceful community.”
