We’re going to learn from a tax expert. This presentation will be led by Master Tax Advisor Denver Cain with H.R. Block. Denver is a retired lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, and he served for 20 years as an IRS volunteer income tax assistance tax preparer while on active duty. He joined H&R Block in 2017 and is an enrolled agent with the IRS.
Denver will walk through the lifecycle of homeownership from a tax perspective with a focus on single-family home purchases, rather than rental properties. Below are some subjects he’ll cover:
- How the IRS sees your home as an asset
- Deductions you could qualify for (there are a lot!)
- Tax credits for first-time buyers
- Advantages of working from home
- Home equity loans
